AFSC Arizona’s 2015 Annual Report

What a year! There’s never a dull moment when you are working for criminal justice reform in Arizona.

We’d like to share with you just the highlights of some of our achievements from 2015:

  • We added THREE new incredible staff people
  • We passed sentencing reform legislation for the fourth year in a row
  • We reduced a private prison RFP from 3,000 to 2,000 beds
  • We published a report on the July 2015 riots at a privately operated prison in Kingman, Arizona
  • We helped create an investment screening tool to help individuals divest from the mass incarceration industry
  • We published a letter to the editor in the New York Times

OtisAnd our Associate Program Director, Matthew Lowen and his wife Shayna brought a baby boy into the world. Welcome to Otis Henry Kessler-Lowen, the next generation of AFSC advocates. For now, we’ll just put him to work on fundraising.

And much more. We are grateful for the generous support of the Langeloth Foundation, the Ristad Foundation, and individuals like you. Your investment in our work pays dividends for prisoners and their families, for taxpayers, and for the cause of justice.
