JUSTICE ON TAP | Sat., May 10 | Rialto Theatre | Doors @ 6:30pm | $10
Please join AFSC Arizona and friends for the 8th Annual Benefit Concert. This year we are excited to announce that we will be hosted by the Rialto Theatre!! This year’s event features the following great local musicians:
6:30pm | Doors
7:30pm | Cyril Barrett with Thoger Lund and Gabriel Sullivan: Cyril Barrett a Tucson based singer/songwriter contributed the song Coyotes Of Sasabe to the Border Songs CD- www.bordersongs.org, a No More Deaths fundraising compilation that has raised almost $50,000.00 dollars in the last year and a half. Barrett will be joined by Thoger Lund (Howe Gelb, DeSoto Caucus) on cello and Gabriel Sullivan (Chicha Dust, Howe Gelb, Brian Lopez) on upright bass.
8:30pm | Carlos Azarte & the Kind Souls: Arzate is one hell of a songwriter. His vocal chops and catchy melodies are obvious strong suits on this release. “Fly Away” is a much-needed positive anthem in these media-induced derisive times. ~Tucson Weekly
9:30 | Chicha Dust: The gentlemen of Chicha Dust know how to throw a party…Band leaders Gabriel Sullivan and Brian Lopez complemented each other better than most duos I’ve seen in a live setting. From the matching gothic western getup, to their exchange of vocals and guitar…They both have really defined their sound and style over the years and seem to have invented a Chicha guitar language…Sullivan and Lopez are backed with a great group of local musicians featuring two drummers, cumbia style bass lines, keys and an accordion. It has all the elements of Cumbia but with the added influence of the two frontmen’s rock n roll and folk roots. – jalph.net
Tickets are $10 at the door. All proceeds benefit AFSC Arizona.
